The Honeywell 949 is a surface mount magnetic reed switch contact for use on doors and windows. The 949 is a hardwired contact with a 15 foot zip cord 2-wire lead that connects to the zone terminals on your wired alarm control panel.
The 949 contact is a good choice to pair with a Honeywell VISTA security system and is also compatible with all other standard 12V wired alarm systems. The 949 has two components, the contact with wire leads, and the matching magnet. The contact should be mounted on the door or window frame, and is wired to the security system. The magnet should be mounted opposite the contact on the moving door or window, with a gap of no more than 1¼” between the devices. The Honeywell 949 contact is equipped with two holes for screw mounting on both the reed switch and the magnet.
